SULBY W.I. meet on the second Monday of the month at St Stephen's Church Hall Sulby at 7.30pm. Guests and new members are always welcome.
Drama We have an enthusiastic group who produce an annual pantomime and one or two sketches or entertainments during the course of the year. Actors and stagehands are always required. Contact Joyce Corlett.
Agricultural Shows
Each year institutes take part in the Southern and Royal Manx Shows with an exhibition of arts, crafts and cookery. These events are organised by a small team of volunteers.
Swainson Cup
This is awarded in October of each year for a craft or cookery item. All members are encouraged to enter.
Kath Sands Rose Bowl
This trophy was given to us in memory of a longstanding and loyal member of Sulby W.I. Originally awarded to a member who has given most to the institute the terms of its presentation were changed in 2006 and it is now awarded for a topic to be announced each year. In 2007 it was photography. The topic for 2008 has not yet been decided.
Sales Table
This gives members an opportunity to sell surplus garden produce, home made comestibles and crafts. 10% of the sale price goes to institute funds. Items should be clearly priced and marked with the producer's name. A list of items and prices would be helpful to those running the sales table.
Readers Group

Monthly Meetings
At our monthly meetings members and guests are welcomed by our President before proceeding to the monthly news and information. Most meetings will have a speaker or a demonstration on a variety of subjects requested by members. Every meeting allows time for members to enjoy a friendly chat over a cup of tea or coffee and a biscuit for which we charge 20p. Each month two members take it in turns to provide milk and biscuits, make tea or coffee and clear up afterwards. Tea, coffee and sugar are provided by the institute.
Social Events
A number of other events are organised for and by members during the course of the year. These include hands on craft evenings covering such varied items as cake icing and card making, scrabble and rummicub, an evening walk, art and any other interest that members care to organise.
Denman College
This a residential college set in its own grounds near Oxford. It offers a wide choice of courses for W.I. members, their families and friends. Details of courses are circulated each year and prove very popular. A bursary may be available from our own W.I. to assist with fees.
A.C.W.W.
The Associated Country Women of the World is an international organisation. The National Federation of Women's Institutes supports this organisation and members may donate to the Pennies for Friendship fund which aims to help under-privileged women in third world countries.
Subscription
The subscription for 2008 is £27.00. This is divided between our own W.I. in Sulby, the Isle of Man Federation of Women's Institutes and the National Federation of Women's Institutes.
